On June 24th, 2025, Oh Myo Kim and Julayne Lee visited the office of National Assembly member Seo Youngseok to discuss the possibilities of hosting a conference in the National Assembly to bring the issue of the file transfer to center of Korean politics. Thanks to Assemblyman Seo listening to our pleas we could start gathering more political support for our cause!

On Monday June 30th, Oh Myo Kim, Seo Vin Shin, Julayne Lee, Eva Suskind, and Robin McDowell were able to arrange a meeting with 3 members of the National Assembly to discuss the organization of the conference. Assemblyman Seo reconfirmed his commitment. Nam and Kim positively responded to our concerns regarding the file transfer and the temporary location and confirmed to join the conference.

Today Oh Myo Kim, Seo Vin Shin, and Eva Suskind were able to arrange a meeting with Assemblywoman Lee Jaejung. As she is part of the Foreign Affairs Committee, we were able to discuss the global context and international significance of the upcoming file transfer. Members of her office were able to provide us with key insights from their perspective and they confirmed their co-sponsorship of the conference.

With the 5th Member of the Assembly co-sponsoring the conference, we now have enough support to effectively host as many adoptees as possible through both physical and online presence!

Thursday, we were able to gain the agreement from another MP for co-hosting. MP Yoon Huduk, who has been supportive of adoptees through his work in Paju, agreed to help out for our forum as well!  With this, we now have six Members of the Assembly co-sponsoring the conference. We also worked hard with our partners here to finalise the design of the program booklet and poster, so we hope to publish these soon!

Many organisations pledged their support for the forum and the letter to President Lee calling for the ethical transfer and preservation of our adoption records in the past few days. We would like to thank everyone for their rapid response!
